Care
for victims of sexual violence is currently provided by both the statutory and voluntary sectors and is being delivered through a multi agency, multi disciplinary approach.
The
model for the provision of immediate care recommended by the Home Office, Department of Health and the Association of Chief Police Officers(ACPO) is through a SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre).
The
SARC is a one off location where victims of sexual assault can receive medical care and counselling, and have the opportunity to assist the police investigation, including undergoing a forensic examination.
CRISIS
POINT manages the day-to-day running of the SARC and are the only organisation existing in the area who are qualified to deliver specialist psychodynamic counselling.
