CRISIS POINT

Victim Care and the role of SARC's

Home

Care for victims of sexual violence is currently provided by both the statutory and voluntary sectors and is being delivered through a multi agency, multi disciplinary approach.
The model for the provision of immediate care recommended by the Home Office, Department of Health and the Association of Chief Police Officers(ACPO) is through a SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre).
The SARC is a one off location where victims of sexual assault can receive medical care and counselling, and have the opportunity to assist the police investigation, including undergoing a forensic examination.
CRISIS POINT manages the day-to-day running of the SARC and are the only organisation existing in the area who are qualified to deliver specialist psychodynamic counselling.
